Making Sense Of It All
It has been a while since I have posted...I know. I have never been a very good "journal keeper". I love the idea of keeping a log of my life, but just sitting down to do it...well....it just doesn't happen.
But I do see the value in it. For the past few weeks I have been caught up in family drama. Luckily, it doesn't necessarily involve me, but the unfortunate part is that I am a listening ear to both parties. The parties involved are related, both provoke each other and each claims to be a victim. I believe they each want to do the right thing...but get so hung up on "I'm the victim", or "I don't need to apologize because I haven't done anything wrong".
Really? It takes two.
Here is what I see: Humility must play a role somewhere, sometime. If we forget about being right, forget about needing the "victory"and focus on just plain 'ol loving- -wouldn't we be better off?
Now. I am not talking about being a doormat. That is different. We are not to be walked on, and there is a time to speak up and say "I don't have to take this."
But...
If we are clearly involved in a mis-understanding, scuffle, whatever you want to call it...shouldn't we just act like grown-ups, put out our hand, and our hearts, say we're sorry and get on with it? Humility.
Try it. You'll like it.
